To read more and become part of ‘The Son of Santa Project’ click here. Carrot Cake in a nut shell: Basically, it’s the story of an epic journey in the making. One mans adventure which will capture the hearts and minds of millions. It is a good old fashioned fairytale about love, passion, joy and happiness. The trials and tribulations of life and how they are overcome. It’s a story of friendship and morals, and you know it’s going to have a happy ending! Right, enough of the romanticizing, what’s really going on? It started as a dream, one mans dream to do something good and make the world a little better. Who? A random bloke called Dan Turner. You’ve not heard of him because he leads a quiet life, out in the country and has never done anything particularly noteworthy, until now. In the summer of 2010, our random hero is going to walk from Gibraltar Point near Skegness England, along the Macmillan Way to Bristol and from there, head south along the coast until he reaches the most Southern point of Europe and Gibraltar. He will be on the road (or beach) for nearly 7 months and will cover over 4000km. Crikey! But as if this wasn’t enough, he’s going to be litter picking the entire journey. You see, this isn’t going to be just a big walk to raise a few eyebrows and maybe a few grand for charity. This is the start of the Carrot Cake Education, an awakening of a combined consciousness, - a coming together of people from all walks of life with one common goal: To Make Things Better. Be it from improving school dinners to combating global warming. From making Trade Fair to making sure no one goes hungry. We all know what needs to be done, so lets just do it. Now there will be 25 established charities we will be working with to help make things better and for each of these charities we want to raise a minimum of One Million Euros. So all in all, that’s Twenty Five Million Euros in the time it takes one man to walk from England to Gibraltar. (that’s €6250 per km, €7440 per hour, just so you know) This figure should be enough to get us started on the right track, but if we raise more, fantastic! This is by no means a solo project. It’s aimed at helping out and making things better for everyone and will only become truly magnificent, when everybody gets involved and helps out. It will be a real testament to having power in numbers. How easy it will be to make a change for the better when the masses unite, and wish it so. So in true Forrest Gump style, don’t let Dan walk alone. If he’s in your area, head down the local beach and help him pick up some litter. Take a week off work and go for a walk with him. Or if you really fancy a challenge and have 6 months to spare, then joint the team. There’s going to be a lot of exciting events and activities taking place en-route. There will be numerous gigs and festivals by local bands and artists with all your favorite bands headlining and the top celeb’s turning up to show their support and help raise money – because lets face it, when David Beckham walks down the beach kicking a football, All the local kids will drag their parents down the beach for kick-about. There will be a circus of events and activities with something for everybody, be it from Woodstock-like Festivals with candle lit craft markets to Extreme sports displays, competitions and lessons from the pros. There will be a Europe wide Treasure Hunt, and an attempt to break the record for the most number of world records broken (mass participation needed here). Imagine Glastonbury, on tour, for an entire summer. This feel good extravaganza is going to benefit you, your children, and your children’s children. The only limitation is our own imagination. So please, help this project become all that it should be. If you want to have some fun next summer, if you like making people smile and you want to play a part in forging a better future for us all, then get involved with this new mission in philanthropy. Lead by example and help show the world how many good people there are fighting for its future. Be the change you want to see in the world, and remember - this is just the beginning. Thank you.
